Laura E. Pinckert

Laura E. Pinckert, 89, of South Bend, Ind., died at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 29, in Hospice House.

She was born in LaPorte County, Ind. on April 17, 1909, to Phoebe (Jessup) and William Hempstead.

 

On May 22, 1929, in South Bend, as Laura E. Hempstead, she married Albert Roy Pinckert, who preceded her in death on April 25, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Isabelle Abraham; and by three brothers, Wendell, Lawrence and Ward Hempstead. Mrs. Pinckert is survived by a daughter, Alice Shriver of Rochester, Ind.; four sons, George Pinckert of South Bend, Merlin Pinckert of Lakeville, Ind., James Pinckert of South Bend and Roy E. Pinckert of Walkerton, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by a brother, George Hempstead of Fremont, Neb. Mrs. Pinckert was a homemaker and was a member of West Side Church of Christ.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m on Tuesday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Rev. Ed Marang of West Side Church of Christ will conduct the service. Burial will be in Olive Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Laura E. Pinckert was a good mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a very caring person and will be greatly missed.
