Mary L. Plant

Sept. 3, 1917- Jan. 16, 2000

"Do not weep for me for I am where I belong."

Mary Louise Lindenman Plant died on Sunday, January 16, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Mary Louise was born September 3, 1917, to the late Jacob Henry and Louise Amelia (Fries) Lindenman. After graduating from James Whitcomb Riley High School she entered St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing where she completed her schooling and became a Registered Nurse. Throughout her life she shared her knowledge and skills of compassionate nursing to all who were in need.

On November 3, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Plant, who preceded her in death on November 19, 1983.

Mary Louise leaves to cherish and honor her life her brother, Jay Lindenman; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Louise and Daniel George Healy of Arizona City, Arizona; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig Michael Plant of South Bend, John Milo and Maryanne Plant of Mequon, Wisconsin. Also celebrating her loving memory are seven grandchildren, Laurie Marie Healy, Michael Patrick (Stacey Lyn) Healy, John Christopher Healy, Ellice Meredith Plant Healy, Joel Benjamin Plant, Christopher Jacob Plant and Katie McCulloch Plant; and a great-grandson, Keaton Michael Healy. She is also survived by a wonderful extended family and friends.

Throughout her life Mary shared her gentle and patient love to all. Her devotion and generosity to her church and church family will be remembered. Tirelessly giving of her time and talent to numerous organizations, a bright spot was left in all she touched and a warm feeling to all she met. She will live on in the memories of all who came in contact with Mary.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Thursday, January 20, 2000, at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William, South Bend, to share their memories of this special lady. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 21, 2000, at 11:00am, beginning with a Funeral Service at Zion United Church of Christ at 715 E. Wayne Street in South Bend, Indiana. Officiating at the service and burial will be Pastor Robert Manning.

Mary's family wishes to thank all who touched her in the last eight months of life, especially to the caregivers at Regency Place of South Bend, The Milton Home, Memorial Hospital of South Bend, and Memorial Homecare. Sincere gratitude is expressed to all for their love and physical and emotional support.

Also, a special thank you to all of her friends and family that stood by her during the difficult days.

Mary Louise will be truly missed but her love for others will be shared and passed on to others forever.
