Harry A. Plencner

June 15, 1909 – September 19, 2007

 

SOUTH BEND – Harry A. Plencner, 98, formerly of Pinewood Drive, departed this world on September 19.  He was a lifelong resident.  He married Phyllis Skrzypiec in 1931.  She preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by three daughters, Margaret (Alex) Bognar, Rita Povlock and Carol (Virgil) Hesseling, all of South Bend; six grandchildren, Thomas Erlacher, Kathy Houin, and Greg and Cheryl Bogner, Ken Hesseling and Judy Carpenter; seven great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren; and his brother, Clem Plencner.

 

Harry retired from Bendix Corporation as a supervisor, where he served for 44 years.  He was a member of the Holy Names Society of St Adalbert Catholic Church, St Joseph Young Men’s Society and St Vincent DePaul Society.  The Lord has taken unto himself a friend and servant who contributed generously to various charities.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Sunday, September 23, in St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6pm.  Family and friends will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am on Monday, September 24 in St Adalbert Catholic Church.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.  Contributions may be made to St Vincent DePaul Society.
