Sylvester J. Plencner

Dec. 31, 1908 - March 22, 1999

Sylvester J. ''Sally'' Plencner, 90, of Huron Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Monday, March 22, in the Bremen Health Care Center, Bremen, Ind.

Mr. Plencner was born on Dec. 31, 1908, in South Bend, to Adalbert and Hattie (Zalas) Plencner. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. In September 1938 he married Rosalie Dembinski, who also preceded him in death on March 10, 1992.

He retired from the Torrington Corporation in 1972 after 42 years of service. Mr. Plencner was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and Harvest House of the church. He was also a member of the Torrington Management Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Catherine Thompson of Bremen; a son, Ronald M. Plencner of South Bend; three grandchildren, Connie Cleveland of Bremen, Robert and Rachel Plencner of Elkhart, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan and Brandon; and by a brother, Stanley Plencner of South Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 26, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with Rev. Daryl Rybicki officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be held at 4 p.m.
