Ethel Plummer

July 16, 1918December 27, 2001

 

Mrs. Ethel (Sis) Plummer departed this life Dec. 27, in Saint Joseph Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Plummer was born July 16, 1918 to Sherman J. Patton Sr., and Dester Boone in Oxford, Miss. She moved to South Bend in 1945. She was a member of Layman Chapel Church, for several years, where she worked with the kitchen committee, because she loved to cook and was always willing to help. She was a member of Northern Star Ct. #38 of Calanthe and Kerdassa tent #2, Princess of Omar and worked faithfully in the fraternal organization. Mrs. Plummer retired from Wheel Horse Inc. and was self employed as a seamstress, a talent she loved.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted loving husband Clarence Plummer, a son, Robert (Yvonne) Plummer, 1 brother, Sherman J. Patton Jr., of Detroit, Mich., 3 sisters, Josephine Thine, Izetta Barringer and Georgia Bryant of Oxford, Miss., "10" grandchildren, Tyrone, Pamela, Tina, Robert Jr., Elizabeth, Mark, Remona, Josephine, Brittney and Tammy. "27" great-grandchildren. "5" brother-in-laws, Andrew Plummer of Gary, Ind., Rev. Edward Plummer of Anderson, Ind., Alonzo Plummer of Oakland, Calif., Ernest and Delman of Lake Village, Ark., 3 sister-in-laws Pearl Tolliver of Chicago, Ill., Nancy Plummer of Wakegan, Ill., Ellen Brandom of Richmond, Calif., 2 special friends, Bettye Jean Stevenson of Joliet, Ill., and Christine Paige of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Edell Plummer.

Services for Mrs. Ethel Plummer will be held Thursday Jan. 3, 2002 in the Layman Chapel C.M.E. Church 303 S. Kenmore St., South Bend, Ind. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service 11:00 a.m. burial will follow funeral services at Riverview Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
