Alice R. Pluta

MISHAWAKA - Alice R. Pluta, 72, of 3314 Grape Road, died about 4:20 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. Mrs. Pluta retired from the Probate Department of the St. Joseph County clerk's office in 1988. She was born March 3, 1922, in South Bend.

 

On Nov. 25, 1948, in South Bend, as Alice R. Pianowski, she married Benjamin Pluta. He died in April 1956. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Pluta of Mishawaka; six sons, Paul and James, both of Mishawaka, Michael and Thomas, both of South Bend, George of Granger and Joseph of Chandler, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Wozniak and Harriet Klawinski, both of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Raymond Pianowski of Niles and Arthur Pine of South Bend. She was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, Golden Cluster, M.R. Falconettes Post 200, Polish Falcon Legion of Honor, Holy Cross Brothers Association, St. Joseph County Democratic Women's Club, Ladies Civic Club and Keeping in Touch.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where Polish Falcon Legion of Honor will conduct services at 3 p.m. and a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
