Harry J. Podemski (South Bend Tribune 12/22/1992)


July 4, 1918-Dec. 21, 1992 SOUTH BEND – Harry J. Podemski, 74, of Longley Avenue died at 7:15 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph’s Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Podemski retired in 1982 from the U.S. Postal Service. He was born July 4, 1918, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On Oct. 12, 1946, in South Bend, he married Harriet R. Reiter. She survives with two daughters, Marcia Yakim of Koontz Lake and Joanne Podemski of South Bend; three granddaughters; four sisters, Sister Vincencia, C.R., and Sister Mary, C.R., both of Chicago, and Jean Wojciechowski and Cecilia Wojciechowski, both of South Bend; and a half sister, Harriet Brugh of El Cajon, Calif. A son, James, died in 1950. He was a veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and American Bird Singers of Fort Wayne. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be at 4 p.m.
