SOUTH BEND - Nick Samuel Polizzotto, 34, was born October 19, 1972, in South Bend, Indiana. He died April 24, 2007, in the line of duty while serving as a member of the South Bend Police Department. He was a 1991 graduate of LaSalle High School and was a four-year member of the golf team as well as a member of the tennis team. He was a 1995 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Nick was a member of the South Bend Police force for nine years. Nick had wanted to be a police officer since he was young.

Survivors include his parents, Rosemary (Lashenik) and Daniel Polizzotto, both of South Bend; a son, Joseph Michael Polizzotto (8 years old) of Granger, Indiana; a brother, Tony Polizzotto, and wife, Michelle of Granger, Indiana; a sister, Amy Dominguez, and husband, David of Simpsonville, South Carolina; nieces, Lauren and Allison Dominguez; and nephews, Alex Jay Dominguez, Luke Polizzotto, Trey York and Brady York.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007, in the Joyce Center of the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007, in the Joyce Center.
