MISHAWAKA - Russell I. Poole, 81, of Mishawaka, IN, passed
away at 6:00 AM Saturday, August 2, 2008, in his home after a
courageous battle with cancer. He retired in 1980 as laboratory
manager for Uniroyal Corporation after 37 years of service. He
then worked at American Rubber in LaPorte, retiring in 1987. Mr.
Poole was born on February 28, 1927, in South Bend, IN, to
Ellsworth and Wreatha (Whiteman) Poole, and was a lifelong
area resident. On November 25, 1948, in South Bend, IN, he
married Elizabeth (Atwood) Poole, who survives. Along with
his wife, Elizabeth Poole, he is survived by one daughter, Susan
(Brian) Harmon of Valparaiso, IN; three sons, William
(Connie) Poole of Crown Point, IN, James (Laura) Poole of
Colorado Springs, CO, and Dan (Linda) Poole of Austin, TX; four
grandchildren, Matthew Poole, Megan (Mike) Curtis,
Christopher Poole and Jordan Poole; two great-grandchildren,
Zackary Curtis and Kaylin Curtis; and two sisters, Eldonna
(Frank) May of Jackson, MI, and Jean (Lowell) Gray
of Titusville, FL. Mr. Poole was a member of the Uniroyal
Management Club and First Baptist Church, Mishawaka. He loved the
Lord, his family and his brothers and sisters in Christ. He
graduated from Purdue University in 1950.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Rev. David Miller, pastor of First Baptist Church, Mishawaka, will officiate.
