Mrs. Portolese, 67, was Mother of Police Chief

 

Mrs. Frank Portolese, 67 of 906 E. Lawrence St., died unexpectedly at 5:54pm Sunday in St Joseph’s Hospital.

 

Mrs. Portolese was the mother of Mishawaka Chief of Police Pasquale Portolese and City Fireman Michael Portolese.

 

She was born in Plati, Italy, on June 29, 1903, and had lived in Mishawaka since 1922, coming to this city from Italy.  As Dominica Trimboli, she was married to Frank Portolese, January 16, 1920, in Plati.

 

Surviving in addition to her husband and two sons are four other sons, Ross A., Umberto, Anthony and Joseph Portolese, all of Mishawaka; a daughter, Mrs. Don Schimizzi of Osceola; 17 grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, Frank and Anthony Trimboli both of Australia, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Vigara, also of Australia.

 

Friends may call after 7pm today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home where final arrangements are bring made.  Mrs. Portolese was a member of St Monica’s Church.  Members of the Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 91, will meet in the funeral home at 8pm today, and members of The Firemen’s Auxiliary will meet there at 7:30pm Tuesday.

Funeral Notes

Services for Mrs. Dominica Portolese, 67, of 906 E Lawrence St. who died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon in St Joseph’s Hospital, will be held at 10am Wednesday in St Monica’s Church.  Rev. William Cieranowski, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call until the time of services in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30pm today.
