SOUTH BEND - Margaret Powers, 79, of Cleveland Road, died Saturday afternoon in her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1912 in Presho, S. D. She lived in this area for ten years, coming from Arkansas.

On May 22, 1940 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, as Margaret Helgeson, she married Richard P. Powers. He died Jan. 2, 1991. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Thompson of Granger; two sons, James P. of Des Moines, Iowa, and Michael R. of Albuquerque, N. M.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Irene Nelson of Palm Desert, Calif.; and a brother, Albert Helgeson of Canada. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m.
