SOUTH BEND - Sylvia M. Powers, 79, of East Donmoyer Avenue, died at 7 p.m. Thursday in her home. Mrs. Powers was born July 21, 1916, in South Bend.

On Aug. 19, 1939, in South Bend, as Sylvia Nutting, she married Ralph R. Powers. He died Nov. 26, 1992. She is survived by three sisters, Virginia Parker of Elkhart, Myrtle R. Marquis of South Bend and Betty Lou Moore of Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother, Walter C. Nutting of South Bend. A son, Robert A., died Feb. 2, 1987. She was a member of First Brethren Church, Avalon Grotto Auxiliary, and Order of Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
