June 17, 1920 - June 14, 2000

Charles O. Prahl, 79, of Heaton Vista, Elkhart, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, June 14, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

Mr. Prahl was born on June 17, 1920, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Oscar and Maude (Brewer) Prahl. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Wheeler.

On Aug. 15, 1942, Charles married Esther Hendricks in Mishawaka. She survives. He is also survived by a son, John (Mary Lou) Prahl of Elkhart; a daughter, Lynette (Pat) Delahanty of Granger, Ind.; three sisters, Helen M. Prahl of Chicago, Ill., Louise (Lowell) Ruegger of Irving, Calif., and Dorothy Palmer of South Bend; and by five grandchildren.

Mr. Prahl was a 1938 graduate of Mishawaka High School. In August 1942 Mr. Prahl joined the Army where he served in the infantry until 1946 when he was honorably discharged, earning a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and a World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Prahl was employed by National Mill Supply in South Bend for 22 years in the electrical sales department until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the D.A.V. in Elkhart.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 16, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
