SOUTH BEND - Valeria J. Prebys, 89, formerly of St. Paul's Retirement Center, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in New Albany, Ind. Mrs. Prebys was an assistant buyer at the former Robertson's Department Store.She was born Sept. 18, 1907, in Dunkirk, N.Y. She came to this area from New York in 1929.

On June 27, 1936, in South Bend, Ind., as Valeria Pauszek, she married Anthony Prebys. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1974. She is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Prebys of New Albany, Ind., and Henry J. Prebys of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and by two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Prebys was a member of the Altar Society of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
