Verda H. (Harrison) Price, 86, formerly of Tanglewood ^Trace, South Bend, died after an extended illness on Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Healthwin Care Facility. She was born on April 5, 1911 in New Troy, Mich. to Dr. L.L. Harrison MD, and Anna Crawford. She was raised in Niles, Mich. having moved there in 1915 with her family. She graduated from Niles High School and from Rosary College in River Forest, Ill. in 1933.She taught in the Niles school system from 1933 to 1937. In 1937 she married Stanley R. Price from South English, Iowa, then a professor at the University of Notre Dame. She had resided in South Bend ever since. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961. She was also preceded in death by her brother, LeRoi C. Harrison in 1987.

 

She is survived by her son, Dr. Thomas H. Price MD (Marilyn) of Seattle, Wash.; and her daughter, Ann C. Watson of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Charles and Matthew Watson, all of West Lafayette, Ind., Michael Watson of Centerville, Ohio, Gregory Watson of Charleston SC, Casey and Rebecca Watson, both of South Bend; David and Rebecca Price, both of Seattle. Mrs. Price was active in the Christ Child Society for many years. She had also been a longtime summer resident of Diamond Lake and was a member of the Diamond Lake Yacht Club. She was a member od the Notre Dame University Club, and was a parishoner St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday in the Hickey Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Christ Child Society.
