Joan T. Przestwor, 84, of South Bend, passed away at 4:26 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2006, in St. Paul's Retirement Community.

Joan was born on August 15, 1921, in South Bend, to Joseph and Stella (Kendziora) Przestwor. Her parents, brothers, Leo and Frank, and sisters, Carrie Palka and Gladys Przestwor, have all preceded her in death.

Joan is survived by two cousins and many friends.

Joan was a nurse at Saint Joseph Hospital; she was also a nurse for Dr. William J. McCraley for 25 years and at St. Joseph County Health Nurse for 10 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of the St. Joseph's School of Nursing Alumni Association, St. Adalbert Catholic Church, St. Adalbert Rosary Society, Harvest House, Club "53" and M.R. Falcons.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 11, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 12, 2006, at 10 a.m. in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
