Sister M. Marooma CSC, 92, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 10 p.m. Monday in the convent after a brief illness. She was born April 5, 1881 in Mandorf, Germany as Anna Putz. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on May 20, 1904 coming from Germany. She had served in convents of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in California and Idaho, before coming to St. Mary’s to reside in 1957. Surviving is a nephew, Rev. Louis Putz CSC, director of the Family Life Services at the Catholic Center in South Bend.

 

Friends may call today and until services Wednesday in the convent parlors. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loretto Chapel. Father Putz will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the convent.
