Feb. 20, 1927-July 7, 2002 Thelma E. Putz, 75, of Jackson Road, North Liberty, Ind., passed away at 9:57 a.m. on July 6, 2002, at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 20, 1927 in South Bend to Vincent and Julia (Gallas) Kowalewski who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Kowalewski. On September 25, 1948 Thelma married Robert Putz, in Terre Coupe, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Karen (George) Beringer, of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Brian (Kathleen) Putz, of North Liberty, and Kevin V. Putz of Lakeville, Ind.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Thelma attended St. Joseph Academy for twelve years. She liked to read, do crossword puzzles, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, at the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where there will be a Rosary said at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church with burial at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made for masses at St. Mary’s.
