Maurice J. Quigley

Maurice J. Quigley, 76, residing on Meadow Stream Drive, South Bend, Ind., formerly of West 14th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away from natural causes at 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the Country-side Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mishawaka. Over the years Maurice owned and operated several auto, truck and tractor repair businesses in North Liberty, Ind. He was also a school bus driver for the North Liberty Schools and South Bend Community Schools for 16 years. Maurice retired from White Farm Equipment. He loved his gardening, woodworking, and home remodeling projects.

 

Maurice was past president of the North Liberty Lions Club, a member of VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka, the American Legion in Mishawaka, was a World War II United States Air Force veteran stationed in India, and was a member of the Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, South Bend.

 

Mr. Quigley was born on Oct. 11, 1922, in LaPaz, Ind., and lived most of his life in North Liberty, moving to Mishawaka in 1986. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Quigley.

 

On July 4, 1943, in North Liberty, he married Alice Lynette Cossel, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Allen C. (Karolyn) Quigley of Buchanan, Mich., and Brett J. (Darlene) Quigley of LaPorte, Ind.; and by three grandchildren, Scott Quigley of Buchanan, Jennifer (Michael) Wolszczak of Trail Creek, Ind., and Jeffrey Erickson of LaPorte.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 20, at the Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend. Rev. Edward Fritz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Highland Cemetery, South Bend.

 

Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, and may also call one hour prior to services today at the church. Contributions in memory of Maurice J. Quigley may be donated to the church.
