Anita J. Quimby

MISHAWAKA - Anita J. Quimby, 79, of West 13th Street, Mishawaka. Passed away at Memorial Hospital South Bend following an illness. She was born in South Bend on November 17th, 1928 to Fred and Mildred (Hawk) Sperling who preceded her in death. As Anita J. Sperling, she married Charles Quimby. He died April 18, 1997.

 

Anita had been living with her daughter, Patti Jo Quimby and her fiance', Russell Brown, in their home where she was lovingly cared for until her death. Anita is survived by her children: Terry Beth ( Daniel) Kilgas, Michael (Pamela) Quimby, Butch (Delisa) Quimby Patti Jo (Russell Brown) Quimby , Johnny Lee Quimby and Charles Quimby Jr. . One sister, Corrine (Ervin) Hoffman also survives. Her grandchildren: Kelly Meehan, Carri (Armando Luva) Quimby, Jon Kinney, Chelsea (Chris) Wilson, Charles Quimby III, Melissa (Jesus Gutierrez) Quimby, Jeff Kinney, Marcus (Chrissy) Quimby, Thomas Quimby, Ryan Ciula, Sara Lee Tillinghast, Camiel (Nathan) Gibson, Azure Baumgartner, Patrick Baumgartner and Jordan Roland Rivera. Great grandchildren: Taylor Graham, Jake Meehan, Zachary Quimby, Austin Quimby, Alyssa Gutierrez, Jeremiah Wilson, Noah Gutierrez, Gracelyn Wilson, Jordan Luva, Dylan Quimby, Dane Wilson, Kierstyn Quimby, Jackson Wilson, Evan Wilson and Morgan Gibson. She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by a brother, Frederick Carl Sperling, a sister, JoAnna Romeo and a grandson, Joel Christopher Kinney. Anita retired from Raco Industries in 1994 as a Welder. After retiring she and her husband enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas. She will always be remembered for her endless sense of humor and loving heart. Her family came first and foremost and everyone could count on her. She married the love of her life and together raised a huge family. She was a mom and hero to one and all. She was the glue that held our family together. She never knew a stranger and she will be greatly missed.

 

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. Entombment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Anita's memory.
