Dorothy Quinlan

Dorothy (Fette) Quinlan, 83, died on Tuesday, August 1 in her home.

 

Dorothy Fette was born in Muenster TX on August 8, 1916, the ninth child of John and Anna Fette.  She lived in Muenster until her marriage to John A. Quinlan.  They moved to South Bend IN in 1941.

 

She attended Texas Technological College in Lubbock TX and North Texas State College in Denton TX. A retired teacher, Dorothy had taught elementary school at Our Lady of Hungary and Holy Cross Schools in South Bend.

 

She was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Rosary and Alta Society.  She volunteered her time as a past president of the Circle of Mercy and member of the Christ Child Society.  She worked with the St Joseph’s Medical Center Auxiliary and the Northern Indiana Historical Society.  She taught quilting classes at the Forever Learning Center.

 

Dorothy traveled the world with the Elderhostel program and continued to quilt, play bridge and listen to books on tape and inspire her family until her death.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Don) Orth of Carmel NY, Mary Gail (Michael) Vogel of Lincolnshire IL, Patricia (Mark) Policinski of Cincinnati OH, a son, Stephen J. (Vickie) Quinlan of South Bend; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and by a sister, Margaret Ratliff of Lubbock TX.

 

Pallbearers are Donald Orth, Michael Vogel, Mark Policinski, Christopher Quinlan, Brian Vogel and Adam Policinski.

 

Services will be held at 10am on Friday, August 4, in Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Friends may call from 4 to 7:30pm today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend, where a rosary will be said at 4:30pm.
