Rev. James Quinlan CSC, professor of economics at the University of Notre Dame, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Hospital after an illness of two weeks. He was born in Rockford, Ill. May 4, 1886. Father Quinlan entered the novitiate July 4, 1903, made his final profession July 6, 1906 and was ordained to the priesthood June 10, 1912. He received his AB degree from Notre Dame in 1908 and taught at Notre Dame from 1913 to 1923. After that he served as chaplain at various schools throughout the country be fore returning to Notre Dame in 1941.

 

Surviving are a sister Mrs. William Kelley and a brother John, both of Chicago.

 

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in Corby Hall on the Notre Dame campus. The Office of the Dead will be sung at 5 p.m. Sunday in Sacred Heart Church on the campus, and funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church. Rev. Michael Mulcaire CSC, former vice-president of Notre Dame and cousin of Father Quinlan, will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery at Notre Dame.
