SOUTH BEND - Brother Chester Louis Rachel, CSC, 58, of River Grove, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died Friday in Holy Cross High School, River Grove. Brother Chester entered the Brothers of Holy Cross on Jan. 25, 1954, made temporary profession on Jan. 26. 1955, and took final vows on Aug. 6, 1958. His first teaching assignment was at Cathedral High School, Indianapolis. He also taught at Boysville, Clinton, Mich; Gilmour Academy, Gates Mills, Ohio; St. Edward High School, Lakewood, Ohio; Holy Trinity High School, Chicago; and Holy Cross High School, River Grove. He spent three years at St. Patrick's High School in Monrovia, Liberia, and six years at St. Augustine's Secondary School in Cape Coast, Ghana. He was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Chicago.

 

A wake will be Sunday afternoon at Holy Cross High School, River Grove. Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Holy Cross Brothers' Center, South Bend. Visitation will from 3:30 p.m. until time of services. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Cemetery. Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, is in charge of arrangements.
