MISHAWAKA - Raymond J. Ramsey, 77, of Linden Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 2:37 p.m. on Friday, March 13, in the Countryside Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Ray was born in Mishawaka on Nov. 1, 1920, to Roy and Attie (Brockus) Ramsey, who preceded him in death.

He was married in Mishawaka on June 19, 1942, to Elsie Bickel, who survives. Also left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Gail (Lyle) Comegys of Mishawaka, Martha (Pat) Woodruff of Osceola, Ind., and Sandra (Steven) Lisi of Elkhart, Ind.; five grandsons, Scott Keiser of Snellville, Ga., Jeffrey Keiser of Lafayette, Ind., Raymond Woodruff of Bloomington, Ind., Stevenson Lisi of Elkhart and Bryon Comegys of Indianapolis, Ind.; three granddaughters, Heather Lisi of Elkhart, Robin Comegys and Rachel Main of Mishawaka; two great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Charles) Scott of Mishawaka and Betty (Don) Milslagle of Surprise, Ariz.; and a brother, Merrill (Jeanette) Ramsey of South Bend.

 

 

Mr. Ramsey was a 1939 graduate of the former Central High School, South Bend. He served over three years in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He retired in 1975 from the former Bendix Corporation and also worked at the Missile Plant in Mishawaka as a process engineer. He was a member of the UAW Local 9 Union, the Disabled American Veterans and the First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka. His call letters were W9NAR as a longtime licensed amateur radio operator. He loved to play golf, fish and was a computer buff.

 

There will be no service or services at his request. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, at a later date. The Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice or to the church memorial gift fund.
