Betty F. Rankin, 81, of South Fellows Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11, in her residence.
Mrs. Rankin was born on Jan. 27, 1918, in Elkhart, Ind., as the daughter of the late Frank and Jane (Weinberg) Bishop. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne Rankin on Dec. 9, 1998.
On June 6, 1935, in St. Joseph City, as the former Betty Bishop, she married Albertus J. Rankin, who also preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Rankin is survived by four daughters, Nancy (Joe) Sabbe of Mishawaka, Ind., Joan (Bob) Lytle of Elkhart, Ind., Patricia (Roger) Herban and Sharon Finn, both of South Bend; a son, Michael Rankin of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Kelly (Bill) Jobin, Mark Sabbe, Don (Jodi) Finn, Michael (Carrie) Lytle, Eric Sabbe, Kevin (Celynn) Finn, Trisha Humphrey, Michael Rankin, Jr., and Kimisha Humphrey; and by five great-grandchildren, Nicole Finn, Tylir Humphrey, McKenzie Jobin, Zachary Lytle and Murphy Jobin.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Shafer, pastor of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
