Lawrence U. Ranschaert

Lawrence U. Ranschaert, 76, who resided on Marrett Drive, Mishawaka IN, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning at 1:07am during emergency surgery at Memorial Hospital, South Bend IN, due to a ruptured aneurysm.

 

He was born March 22, 1927, in South Bend, the son of the late Urban and Lillian (Martlaere) Ranschaert.  He had lived in the South Bend and Mishawaka area all his life.  He was a sales representative for M.B. Skinner and Sprague Meter Companies, both of South Bend, and was a sales representative for Schlumberger of Owenton KY.

 

Lawrence was married June 7, 1947, in South Bend in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, to Dora Jean Heminger, who survives.  He is also survived by four children and their families, Darlene and Frank Knapp of Long Valley NJ, Douglas and Cindy Ranschaert of Edwardsburg MI, Lawrence and Beth Ranschaert of Granger IN and Randy Ranschaert of South Bend; nine grandchildren, John and Ann Marie Ranschaert, Michelle Ranschaert, Kimberly J. Knapp, Scott Knapp, Andrew Knapp, Erika Ranschaert, Larry J. Ranschaert, Patrick Ranschaert and Daniel Ranschaert.  There are also three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Nicholas and Joey.  He is also survived by a sister, Elaine Nash of South Bend, a nephew, Kenneth; and by several cousins.

 

Lawrence was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy as a Fireman 1/C aboard the Naval vessels USS Evants and Antietiam.  He enjoyed bowling at Senior Fun Bowling, Chippewa Bowl, South Bend and he liked playing golf.  He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday, April 4, in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street (US 12) in Edwardsburg MI, and vigil prayers will be at 7:30pm.
