Murray A. Rearick

SOUTH BEND - Murray A. Rearick, 89, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 6:23 PM Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Healthwin Specialized Care. Mr. Rearick retired in 1987 from Quincy Medical Group, Quincy, IL, after 18 years of service. He was born on April 30, 1920, in South Bend, IN, to Murray and Ruth (Gould) Rearick. On May 24, 1941, in South Bend, IN, he married Virginia (Kindig) Rearick, who survives. Along with his wife of 68 years, Virginia Rearick, he is survived by his daughter, Becky (Tom) Ditto of Granger; sons, Murray "Chip" (Jane) Rearick III of Charlotte, NC, and Brian (Joann) Rearick of South Bend; four grandchildren, Jason (Jodi) Ditto, John Patrick Rearick, PhD, Valarie Rearick and Matthew Rearick; five step-grandchildren, Allen Cahoon, Suzanne Zultanski, Shelley (Eric) Krall, Bryan (Sarah) Schiff and Cary (Malina) Schiff; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Phyllis Hall of South Bend. Mr. Rearick became a member in the Medical Group Management Association in 1953, then a Fellow in the College of Medical Group Management Association. At this time he was business manager of the South Bend Clinic. In 1969 he moved to Quincy, IL, to become administrator of the Physicians and Surgeons Clinic. He was a member of River Park United Methodist Church, South Bend, South Bend Elks Lodge 235, and American Legion Post #303, South Bend. Murray was also a member of the Quincy Country Club, Quincy, IL, where he was an avid golfer, and the Quincy Society of Fine Arts. where he served as a board member. In Quincy he was a member of the Vermont Street United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He also sang in the Great River Barbershop Chorus and the "Monarch" Quartet. He served on the board for Bank of America in Quincy and as past president for Rotary International, Quincy, IL. Mr. Rearick served in the United States Army during World War II. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Pastor Thomas Thews will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home.
