MISHAWAKA - Virginia L. Reed, 83, of Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, and formerly of North Wenger Street, died at 7:35 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, following an illness. Mrs. Reed was a nurse and formerly worked for Dr. Verna Christophal.

She was born March 14, 1911, in Frankfort, Ind. On Nov. 24, 1934, in Mishawaka, as Virginia L. Davis, she married Virgil H. Reed. He died July 18, 1968. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Priebe of Mishawaka, and Cynthia Blackburn of South Bend; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Davis of Lafayette, Ind. A grandson, Lantz Reed, died in 1970. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mishawaka, St. Joseph Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, and Ladies Auxiliary of Mishawaka Exchange Club.

Private graveside services will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. There will be no visitation. Bubb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Methodist Church of Mishawaka or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
