Mary M. Rees

Mary M. Rees, 94, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Regency Place of South Bend.

She was born Sept. 20, 1907, to the late Norton and Bessie (Engle) Reed in Peru, Ind., and had lived in South Bend most of her life, coming from Culver, Ind. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Ann Rees in July 1941; a brother, Charles Reed in 1984; and by a sister, Lena Speyer in 1987. On May 2, 1936, she married Charles H. Rees, who passed away on April 29, 1971.

Mrs. Rees retired in 1977 from P.D.H. Office Supply Company in Roseland, Ind., after 20 years of service.

She is survived by a daughter, Maryann (Walt) Winenger of South Bend; five grandchildren, Pam (Brad) Fulmer of Granger, Ind., Jim (Lori) Winenger of South Bend, Kim Winenger of South Bend, Kristi Winenger of Mishawaka, Ind., Kellie (Frank) Wukovits of South Bend; two great-grandchildren, Katie Winenger and Kristen Wukovits, both of South Bend; one niece, Sue (Bill) Scheibelhut of Warsaw, Ind.; and by a nephew, Don (Joanne) Speyer of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Mrs. Rees was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Culver and belonged to the Roseland Citizens Association.

There will be no visitation. F uneral services will take place at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 26, in Highland Cemetery Mausoleum, with Br. Steve P. Nani, C.S.C., officiating.

The Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
