Sister Katherine Reichert CSC, 46, of Andre House, Saint Mary’s Convent, who died at 9 p.m. Sunday in Charter House, Rochester, Minn., after an illness of cancer, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday on Our Lady of Loretto, and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday in the Convent Parlors, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, where a wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m.

 

She was born Oct. 3, 1968 in Rochester, Minn., and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s Convent Sept. 2, 1962. She was received as a novice June 10, 1963 and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1965. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s College and earned her master’s degree in theology in 1966 from St. Mary’s.  She pursued studies in religious education to assist  her in ministry programs to which she was assigned. Prior to entering the order, she served with the Holy Cross Congregation in Bangladesh for 18-months. She taught at St. Mary’s College in the department of theology and served as campus ministry director at intervals between 1967 and 1979. She also served at Dunbarton College of Holy Cross in Washington DC for three years and at St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend, before returning to St. Mary’s College. In 1979 she was elected a member of the Midwestern Region Administration and served in that capacity until 1984.
