SOUTH BEND - Dorothea Ruth Reihl, 91, of South Bend, passed away Friday morning in Regency Place of South Bend. She was born on November 5, 1917, in LaPorte, Indiana, to the late Ervin and Kathryn (Geisel) Lerner. Also preceding her was a son, William Reihl. On May 4, 1946, in Mishawaka, she married John Reihl Jr., who died April 6, 2006. Dorothea is survived by a daughter, Cathy Reihl Kampars (John) of Niles, Michigan; a son, John S. Reihl (Barbara) of Granger, Indiana; grandchildren, John Jason Reihl (Jenn) of Granger and Adam (Lora) of Fishers, Indiana; one great-grandchild, Benjamin Reihl; a sister, Aline Leighton of Mishawaka; a brother, Carl Lerner (Sharon) of Houston, Texas; two nephews and a niece. Mrs. Reihl worked for Associates Investments Corp. and also the Notre Dame Ticket Office, but primarily she was a loving wife and mother. Dorothea was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Farm Bureau and the Home Economics Club.

 

Visitation will be held today from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. A parish Rosary will be said at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 30th, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Rev. Bill Schooler officiating, and burial will follow at Harris Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to Mass in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Indiana Chapter, 7301 Georgetown Road, #112, Indianapolis, IN 46268; to Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530. Dorothea would always say God Bless You to all.
