Homer F. Reiter: (South Bend Tribune 2/11/1969)

Homer F. Reiter, 63, of 818 W. Mishawaka Ave., owner of H. & R. Cut Rate, 3613 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, died at 4:45 a.m. today in St. Joseph’s Hospital where he had been taken earlier today by city ambulance after becoming ill in his home.

He co-owned the drugstore with his wife, the former Rolena Hoerstman, whom he married in St. Monica’s Church on Nov. 27, 1930. She survives.

Born in Cadillac, Mich., on Aug. 10, 1905, he had lived in Mishawaka since 1910, coming from Cadillac. Mr. Reiter was a member of St. Monica’s Church, the Holy Name Society, Mishawaka Aerie 2083, Fraternal Order of Eagles, National Catholic Society of Foresters and the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

Surviving along with Mrs. Reiter are a son, William J. Reiter of Los Angeles, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Donald Rodick of South Bend; a brother, J. Kenneth Reiter of South Bend, and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home where arrangements are being completed.

REITER – Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Monica’s Church for Homer F. Reiter, 63, of 818 W. Mishawaka Ave., who died Tuesday. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leo A. Hoffman, pastor , will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Reiter retired from the Northern Indiana Public Service Co. last December and owned the H & R. Cutrate Store, 3613 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.
