Joseph A. Reiter: (South Bend Tribune 10/15/1941)


Joseph A. Reiter, aged 69, of 302 South Scott street, died in his home at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday after 10 months’ illness with a heart ailment. He was born in Mishawaka Feb. 2, 1872, and lived his entire life here. He was married in Cadillac, Mich., in 1898 to Alma Benson, who survives him. He was a cigar maker by trade. He leaves two sons, Kenneth and Homer Reiter, both of South Bend; nine grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Reiter, South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Grinstead, of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, of the Holy Name society of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic church and was for 30 years a member of the choir of St. Patrick’s church. Friends may call in the residence from 7 p.m. today until the funeral at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick’s church, Rev. Patrick J. Dolan, C.S.C., pastor, will sing the requiem mass. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery.
