Sister M. Irenaeus CSC, 85, of St. Mary’s Convent, died in the convent Monday afternoon following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 3,1893 in Baltimore, Md. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Feb. 1, 1935; was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1935, and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1937. She spent most of her community life as an elementary school music teacher, serving in schools in Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Washingto DC, Texas and Pennsylvania In 1971 she retired to St. Augela Hall, Kensington, Md. and transferred to St. Mary’s Convent this year.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace at St. Mary’s. Friends may call in the convent parlors, where a  wake service will be 7 p.m. today.
