Sister M. Margaretta CSC, 63, of Saint Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday at the convent after an 18-month illness. She was born Judith Marie Reppen on Jan. 13, 1918 in Arcadia, Wis. and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary’s, on July 3, 1936.  She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1937, and made her profession on Feb. 2, 1938. She was graduated from St. Mary’s College with a B. A. degree in history. She did graduate work at the University of Notre Dame and at Fordham University receiving her M. A. in administration in 1956 and her Ph.D. in elementary education in 1962.

 

She served as an elementary school teacher at St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s in South Bend, as well as schools in Michigan and Illinois. Her last assignment was if the Department of Education at St. Mary’s College, where she served from 1956 to the time of her death. She is survived by two sisters, Sister Dorothy Ann Reppen CSC, of South Bend, and Mrs. Mary Cae Kelly of Tampa, Fla.; and seven brothers, David and Eugene Reppen, both of Louisiana, Rev. Robert B. Reppen O. Praem of Battle Creek, Mich., John and William Reppen of Rockford, Ill., Daniel Reppen of Chicago and Richard Reppen of Coral Springs, Fla.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, St. Mary’s and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call until 7 p.m. Monday at the Saint Mary’s Convent Parlors. A wake will be observed at 7 p.m. today in the Church of Loretto.
