SOUTH BEND – Regina McManus Resnik, 66, of Jackson Road, died at 4:45pm Wednesday in her home after an illness.  Mrs. Resnik was employed as a nurse and ombudsman for St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, since 1976.

She was born December 20, 1927, in Mishawaka, and was a lifelong area resident.  On June 7, 1948, in Mishawaka, as Regina Gerstbauer, she married Donald McManus.  He died I 1962. 

On May 18, 1978, in Mishawaka, she married George A. Resnik.  He survives with three daughters, Peggy Unwin and Janet Williams, both of Mishawaka, and Jeannie Geissler of South Bend; three sons, Pat McManus of Osceola, and Don McManus and Marty McManus, both of South Bend; six stepdaughters, Ann and Patricia Resnik, both of Arlington Heights IL, Kathy Horn of Mishawaka, Carolyn Houswerth of Streamwood IL, Mary Resnik of Arlington VA and Barbara Resnik of South Bend; three stepsons, George Jr. and Jim Resnik, both of South Bend, and Tom Resnik of Portage; 25 grandchildren; three sisters, Millie Shamo of LaPorte, Angela Cressy of Mishawaka and Collette Hornung of Royal Oak MI; and three brothers, Richard and Albert Gerstbauer, both of South Bend, and Joseph Gerstbauer of Mishawaka.

She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and was a recipient of the Katherin Kasper Healthcare Award.

Services will be at 10am Saturday in the church.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 9pm Friday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a parish rosary will be said at 4:30pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
