Louise E. Rice

Oct. 15, 1922 - June 4, 2001

Louise E. (Bokhart) Rice, 78, of Peach Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 4:32 p.m. Monday, June 4, in Hospice House.

She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Mishawaka, Ind., and was the daughter of Cyreal and Helen (Kline) Bokhart. Mrs. Rice retired in 1984 from Associates of North America.

On Feb. 14, 1942, in Mishawaka, as Louise Bokhart, she married Roy E. Rice Sr., who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Betty (John) Brassell of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Gail (Bill) Varie of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Roy (Mary) E. Rice Jr. of South Bend; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Virginia De Geyter of Mishawaka and Josephine Wachs of Osceola, Ind.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, August Bokhart and Irving Charles Bokhart; and by a sister, Alice Di Rocco.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where friends and family may call one hour before. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
