SOUTH BEND - Roy E. Rice Sr., 87, formerly of Peach Road and Linden House, died on March 27, in Fountain Hills, AZ. He married Louise Bokhart Feb. 14, 1942, in Mishawaka, IN. She preceded him death in June of 2001. He was born in Arkansas to Claude and Stella Rice who have also preceded him in death. He is survived by three children, Roy Rice Junior (Mary) of Mesa AZ; two daughters, Betty (John) Brassell of Tucson and Virginia Gail (Bill) Varie of Ventura, CA; two grandsons, Michael (Kim) Brassell and Dan (Tiffany) Brassell; granddaughters, Kimberly Roeder and Kristen (Jason) Roeder; four great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; and a sister, Lily of Rockford, IL. He was a carpenter millwright for Local carpenter union. He was a member of the German Club and Knights of Columbus, a member of Our Lady of Hungry Holy Name Society and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday June 21, with visitation one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ.
