Marian V. Roberts

Marian V. Roberts, 87, of Mishawaka, Ind., died at 10:28 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30th, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Marian was born in Edwardsburg, Mich., and had lived in Mishawaka for over seventy years.

 

She married Glenn Jacob Selner in Mishawaka on Feb. 7, 1931. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1970. She was remarried in Mishawaka on July 17, 1971, to Woodrow L. Roberts, who survives. Mrs. Roberts is also survived by two daughters, Connie J. (Robert) Riddle of Mishawaka and Sherry A. McClurken of Osceola, Ind.; a son, Dennis L. (Sandee) Selner of Cordova, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Lucille Stickel of Elkhart, Ind., Ruby Vincent of Texas and Margie (Ed) Peterson of Schoolcraft, Mich.; and a stepson, Glenn A. Selner of Florida. Mrs. Roberts is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren and several step-great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Madeline Hojara; four nephews, Victor Gran, Joseph Gran, Howard Mamak and Terry Mamak; and by her best friend and traveling companion, Ethel Bruegal of Mishawaka. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Howard C. and Nellie May (Smith) Dawson; four sisters, Laura Worrell, Carrie M. Gran, Donnabelle Dawson and Frances E. Mamak; and by a stepson, Harold R. Selner.

 

She was a member of East United Methodist Church and the Homemakers Class. Among her hobbies were gardening, fishing, camping and traveling. Marian was a seamstress for many years, having worked for Ball Band, Kinders, and H.D. Lee's. Marian was a loving mother who always put her children first.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 1, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. on Friday in East United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sheldon Grame officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung or Heart Associations.
