Margaret Jane "Marge" Robinett, 80, of 52797 Kenilworth Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:13 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19. Marge was born on Jan. 11, 1920, in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Paul VanderSloot; her brother, Nick VanderSloot; her sisters, Harriet Halm, Ella Colton and Della Phelps; and by her first husband, Roderick Stank.

On Feb. 6, 1948, in Grand Rapids, Mich., Marge married Nevit "Robbie" Robinett, who also preceded her in death in September 1986. She is survived by three daughters, Carol (Bill) Case of South Bend, Gail (John) Wachs of Osceola, Ind., and Linda Robinett of Mishawaka, Ind.; two sons, Tom (Cindy) Robinett of Mishawaka and Scott (Beth) Robinett of Granger, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walt VanderSloot and Ed VanderSloot; and by four sisters, Helen Huizing, June Williamson, Barb Mueller and Doris Saurman.

Marge made her home in Mishawaka for many years before moving with Robbie to Bradenton, Fla., in 1972. She returned to South Bend in 1993 and spent the rest of her life in this area. Marge was a homemaker all of her life and, while in Mishawaka, belonged to the Normain Homemakers Club. Many lifelong friendships were formed through her association with this group. Marge loved to travel and Las Vegas was one of her favorite destinations. She was an excellent card player, and her family has many happy memories of hours spent playing joker with her. Marge resided in her final months at Your Home Assisted Living, and the family wishes to thank Rita, Evelyn and the rest of the caregivers there. You were special to our mother and to us. God Bless You.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, in Faith United Methodist Church, 802 East Ewing Avenue, South Bend. A luncheon will follow immediately after services in the church basement. Memorial contributions may be made to the P.S.P.
