Dean S. Rodgers

Dean S. Rodgers, 81, of Queensboro Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, June 12, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind. Dean was born on June 4, 1921, in Three Oaks, Mich., as the son of the late Jesse and Hazel (Stanage) Rogers. Dean was also preceded in death by a stepson, Johnny Zumbaugh in 1994; and by two aunts, Kathryn Rogers and Millie Stanage.

 

On July 24, 1948, in South Bend, he married the former Ruth Hughes, who survives. Dean is also survived by a stepdaughter, Kathryn (John) Kantorowski of Mishawaka; a stepson, Arthur (Jean) Zumbaugh of Reston, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Joan Zumbaugh of Kissimmee, Fla.; an aunt, Frances Stanage of Three Oaks; and by special friend and care person, Daniel Raab.

 

Dean was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served on the USS Joseph Hewes, the USS Oberon, the USS Cecil (APA 96) and Port Directors, Cristobal Panama. Dean was a past member of American Legion 303 and V.F.W. Post 360.

 

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m, to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 14, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
