Ruth E. Rodgers, 82, of Queensboro Ave, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, in Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, Ind. Ruth was born on September 24, 1920, in Nappanee, Ind., as the daughter of the late John Peter and Valeria (Hoppel) Hughes. She was also preceded in death a son John Zumbaugh in 1994; and by four brothers, James, John, Tommy and Richard Hughes.

On July 24, 1948, in South Bend as the former Ruth Hughes, she married Dean S. Rodgers who preceded her in death on June 12, 2002. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Kathryn (John) Kantorowski of Mishawaka; a daughter-in-law, Joan Zumbaugh of Kissimmee, Fla.; a son, C. Arthur Zumbaugh of Reston, Va.; two sisters, Elizabeth Betty Pedersen of Overton, Nev., and Hattie Adam of Venice, La.; four brothers, Robert Hughes of Portage, Ind., Joseph and Harold Hughes, both of Syracuse, Ind., and Lamar Hughes of Lake Ozark, Mo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and her dear friend, Daniel P. Raab. Ruth and Dean had a great love for travel. She was a dear sweet loving lady who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 24, in Hahn Funeral Home with Rev. Don Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
