Loreta M. Romeo, 95, of East Lawrence Street in Mishawaka, Ind., died early Sunday, Dec. 15, in her home. Loreta was born on Aug. 18, 1901, in Plati, Italy. She was married in Italy on May 9, 1925, to Domonico Romeo, who preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1973. They had come to the United States on Feb. 21, 1947.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Julia P. Violi; and a son, Joseph Romeo, both of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Marianna Govorko, Tony Violi, Don Violi, Rita Robertson, Don Romeo, Toni Ann Thornton, Lori Gaby, Julie Strohl and Fred Romeo; and 16 great-grandchildren, Julie Govorko, Chrissy Govorko, Anthony Violi, Michael Violi, Lisa Robertson, Rachel Violi, Dominic Violi, Shawn Gaby, Joe Gaby, Mike Gaby, Anthony Gaby, Katie Gaby, Patrick Romeo, Christopher Thornton, David Strohl, and Abby Strohl. A sister, Rose Portolese, also preceded her in death.

 

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, of which she was a member. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
