South Bend – Marcella Meyer Rood, 84, of Medco Center, formerly of Fort Wayne, died at 7 a.m. today in St. Joseph Medical Center. Mrs. Rood retired in 1968 as a home demonstrator agent for Purdue University.

 

She was born March 29, 1905 in Noble County. On Sept. 18, 1944, in Fort Wayne, as Marcella Meyer, she married Clare A. Rood. He died Aug. 17, 1984.

 

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Mary Jo Robinson of California; two stepsons, Robert and David, both of Michigan; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Meyer and Anne Meyer, both of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in home economics and was a former home economics teacher and a former dietitian at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral and the Rosary Society of the church.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mathew Cathedral. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m.
