MISHAWAKA -- The Rev. Tinnie Rorie, 86, of Mishawaka, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday (March 1, 2007) at Fountainview Place Nursing Home. He was born July 26, 1920, in Onia, Ark., to Doss and Evaline (Martin) Rorie.

 

On Oct. 19, 1940, he married Marie Hollihan in Truman, Ark. She survives, along with two daughters, Patsy (Ronald) Langwell of Osceola and Pam (Marvin) Duerksen of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three brothers, Hassell (Wilma) Rorie and Eulis (Betty) Rorie, both of Osceola, and Dolton (Frances) Rorie of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Onis and Lyle Rorie, and Beulah Adams.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, where funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana, P.O. Box 4204, South Bend, IN 46634

 

Rev. Rorie enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1945. He was employed as a barber with Red's Barber Shop in South Bend until his retirement in 1983, and spent many years serving as pastor of the First General Baptist Church of Osceola, Willard Road General Baptist Church of Elkhart and Sunnyside General Baptist Church of Elkhart. He enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and fishing with his grandchildren.
