SOUTH BEND - Ernestine M. Rose, 83,
of Valparaiso, formerly of South Bend, died at 6:35 a.m. Thursday
in Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Valparaiso. Mrs. Rose retired
from Society Bank as a teller.
She was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Mishawaka,
and lived in Valparaiso since 1986. On April 7, 1934, as
Ernestine Harlin, she married Carl Rose. He died March 15,
1981. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen R. Shaw of
Valparaiso; a son, Jerry D. of Houston; four grandchildren; and
two great-grandchildren. She was a member of Order of Eastern
Star and Grace United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Forest
G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St., Cremation will take
place. Friends may call from noon until time of services in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's
Association.
