Apolona F. Roth

Mrs. Apolona F. Roth, 88, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Friday evening, May 22, in her residence. She was born on May 16, 1910, in Europe, to John and Augusta (Andrus) Forbauer.

 

On Dec. 15, 1928, in Sawyer, Mich., she married the late Joseph Roth, who died in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Rhonda Roth; a son-in-law, Bruce Goffeney; her sister, Leana Russell; and by a half brother, Theodore Dorn.

 

She is survived by two children, Shirley Goffeney of Novi, Mich., and Douglas and his wife Joan Roth of South Bend; six grandchildren, Deborah Karr of Whitmore Lake, Mich., Pat Jack of Lincoln, Mich., Randall Roth, Ryan Roth and Ronette Roth, all of St. Joseph, Mich., and Rodney Roth of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by eight great-grandchildren, Geoff, Jennifer, Lindsey, Christopher, Brianne, Adam, Autumn and Cody. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Reinhardt of Fullerton, Calif., and Elsie Burke of Bridgeman, Mich; her brother, John Forbauer of Wichita, Kan.; and by a half brother, Irvin Dorn of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Roth worked for more than 20 years for the Studebaker Automobile Corporation until its closing in 1963. She was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, with the Rev. Gregory Fiechtner officiating. Entombment will take place in the Riverview Mausoleum.

 

Friends are invited to call from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to either her church or to The Diabetes Association.
