Sister M. Caecilius Roth CSC, 74, of Rosary Hall, Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday in the convent. She was born May 5, 1916 in Los Angeles as Florence Elizabeth Roth. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on June 28, 1934; was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1935; and professed her vows on Feb. 2, 1937. She was assigned to Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, where she received her nursing degree. She was a missionary in Manila and was held prisoner of war from 1941 to 1945. She then served in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was supervisor of the convent infirmary since 1966, retiring in 1984. She was serving as administrative assistant in the nursing department of the convent.

 

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Church of Loretto at St. Mary’s, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday in the convent parlors where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
