Ronald Edward Roughton

SOUTH BEND - Ronald Edward Roughton, 69, formerly of
Mishawaka, died of natural causes on Saturday, April 19,
following years of ill health. He was a patient at Saint Joseph
Care Center. He donated his body to the Indiana University School
of Medicine. Mr. Roughton was born February 21, 1939, in
Cleveland, Ohio.
On April 20, 1974, he married Valerie Ann Cocks
at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Lorain, Ohio. She
survives along with their daughter, Elaine Roughton of South
Bend. Other survivors include his mother, Mildred F. Roughton of
Ohio; sisters, Geraldine A. Protzek and Brenda L. McClain,
both of Ohio; and brothers, James A. Roughton of Texas and Thomas
G. Roughton of California. A lifetime of avid reading
supplemented Mr. Roughton's formal education at General Motors
Institute and Indiana University South Bend. He was a retired
retail sales manager.
Donations may be made to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. Mr. Roughton's family also urges all adults to talk with their doctors about colonoscopy screenings and opportunities to will their bodies to medical education.
