Ruth Ann Heeter Rumsey

Ruth Ann Heeter Rumsey, 74, of Fulmer Road, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.

Ruth Ann was born on Feb. 21, 1925, in South Bend, as the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Hoover) Quimby. She was a lifelong area resident.

On Feb. 24, 1944, in South Bend, as the former Ruth Ann Quimby, she married Ray E. Heeter, who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her father, Ralph Quimby; two brothers, Robert Quimby and Charles Quimby; and by a sister, Daryl Ruscio.

Ruth Ann is survived by her mother, Mary Quimby Hayes of Edwardsburg, Mich.; two daughters, Barbara Betzer of Griffith, Ind., and Marcia Dillion of Plainfield, Ind.; a son, Dan Heeter of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Katona of Dade City, Fla., Mary Lu Whiting of South Bend and Pat Reader of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by three brothers, Lester Quimby of South Bend, John Quimby of Florida and Ralph Quimby of South Bend.

Ruth Ann had been employed by the former Indiana Bell for 15 years and was presently employed as a cashier by the Miejer Store at Indiana 331 in Mishawaka. Ruth Ann was a loving mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
